(Re)discovering Haiti through its Arts and its People: Embassy Open House

During the evening of Thursday, May 18th, an Open House event was held at the Embassy in celebration of the 214th anniversary of the Haitian flag. As they toured the edifice, guests had the opportunity to view the exquisite Haitian art on display at the Embassy from the private collections of Fritz Racine and Galerie Monnin, as well as the latest installment of the Pearls of Excellence, an exhibit showcasing the contributions of individuals of Haitian descent to the advancement of American society. Throughout the evening, the guests enjoyed Haitian music exalting the country’s unique history and the unbreakable spirit of the Haitian people, while also savoring succulent Haitian appetizers and consuming flavorsome drinks. The celebration also featured a spoken word session animated by Haitian American author, emcee and public speaker MrJeffDess, and Pages Matam, director of poetry events at Busboys and Poets.
