On Saturday, May 20th, internationally-acclaimed Haitian songstress Emeline Michel serenaded a jubilant crowd gathered at the Busboys and Poets in Hyattsville with deeply moving, joyful music delivered in a charismatic performance. With countless hit songs released over the course of a thirty-year career that began with her 1987 debut album Douvanjou ka leve, Michel shined through and delighted the public with early iconic hits like “A.K.I.K.O.”, as well as with more recent successes such as “Mèsi Lavi.” As the show concluded, Michel kindly invited the audience to come dance with her on stage and graciously took the time to greet fans after.
