Reception at the Embassy of Haiti for the Association of Alternative News

Last week, Washington DC welcomed over 300 U.S. in print, radio and online journalists for the annual Association of Alternative News (AAN) Convention. As part of the Washington DC experience, the Embassy of Haiti hosted the Association for a reception at its historic building on Friday July 28.

The evening consisted of a curated menu, also featuring a signature Haitian cocktail. Members of the press also received a guided tour of the Embassy’s Haitian art collection as well as an exploration of the latest ongoing exhibit, Pearls of Excellence, which highlights Haitian contributions to the advancement of American society.

Later that evening, Paul Altidor, Haiti’s Ambassador to the United States delivered welcoming remarks exploring Haiti’s unique history, its rich heritage and vast contributions. He invited the guests to have a different conversation about Haiti; one that communicates all that the country has to offer beyond natural disasters and charity.

The evening closed with an intimate conversation between the Ambassador and different media representatives on Haiti’s narrative, its development progress and investment opportunities.
