On January 12, 2010, the Republic of Haiti was struck by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake. This disaster claimed several hundred thousand lives and displaced many more. While Haiti continues to rebuild, we must never forget those who perished.
In commemoration of the 6th anniversary of the earthquake, the Embassy of Haiti in Washington, DC will observe a moment of silence. We encourage the Friends of Haiti to honor the lives lost by also pausing in silence wherever they are for one minute promptly at 4:53 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016.
