The 13th Annual Haitian Ladies Brunch
A Celebration of Our Shared Heritage and the Contributions of Haitian Women
On Sunday, October 7, 2018, the Embassy hosted the largest gathering of Haitian women from across the nation for the 13th annual Haitian Ladies Brunch. The event was organized in partnership with the Haitian Ladies Network (HLN) to celebrate our shared Haitian heritage, connect with the Diaspora community and highlight the contributions of women of Haitian descent.
For centuries, Haitian women have been recognized as the pillars in their societies. This legacy has been embedded in the culture and continued throughout generations. During his remarks, His Excellency Paul Altidor, Haitian Ambassador to the U.S., acknowledged the presence and contribution of Naomy Grand-Pierre as the first Haitian-American to compete as a swimmer in the Olympics. “Thank you for representing Haiti and for joining us on the movement to shift the Haiti narrative. It could not have been easy but you made it happen and paved the path for other’s dreams to be realized.”
The Embassy was pleased to serve as a platform for this demographic of the Diaspora to form new friendships and uplift each other’s accomplishments over a traditional Haitian brunch.
